Trouble is, to me the river looks much too wide for the shot to have been taken so far north in Thailand as to be within the "Golden Triangle".  It's not even that wide in Vientiane as I remember it.   The Lao capital is much too far downstream to be considered "Golden Triangle" territory. As for the building, from what I can see, it appears to be a very new -- and very small -- little mosque.  This is another problem:  there aren't a lot of Muslims in northern Thailand; what ones there are would be in large centers like Chiang Mai or possibly Chiang Rai.  The photos, however, show a rather rural landscape.  Anyway,  Thai Muslims are almost exclusively found in the two or three southernmost provinces neighboring Malaysia.  But then I look at the little map on the sign, and it appears to indicate the area I know to be the Golden Triangle.  More info please!
