  •  The number that was usually given was... (6+ / 0-)

one million casualties (combined KIA and wounded) for Operation Olympic on the Allied side alone. This assumed the complete mobilization of the civilian populus in Japan and was based on Allied expirence in places like Okinawa. If this is in Fall River I'll have to go check it out! Is a piece on the Oka (or Baka as the Americans called it) Flying Bomb next SF?

    •  In answer to your question... (4+ / 0-)

....there are 14 surviving Yokosuka MXY7 Ohka, worldwide - of all models - and I have photographed and examined three of these.

I think I shall use a shot of one that doesn't get seen by too many people, the Ohka at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. It will have to be a few weeks though as I have SO much to do!!!

      Take care

    •  If you live anywhere close... (5+ / 0-)

...anywhere in New England, not just MA...then a visit to Battleship Cove at Fall River is a MUST. Its not just the USS Massachusetts, but the many other warships, aircraft and much more.

You will find this Special Attack craft alongside two PT boats in a special exhibition hall on the quay.

My friend Dave and I had a GREAT time, when we were on the Infamous Ice Road Trip!
