  •  I have a picture of an (7+ / 0-)

injured bald eagle, "Liberty" landing on my shoulder there, from a previous birds of prey display.

    Great, under-appreciated place.

If you are there, and see a stuffed blue bird on display. He is a casualty of our sliding glass door reflection.  Very sad.

He hit it the morning of 9/12/01.  With everything that had happened the day before, it was just too much.  (We have 2 blue bird boxes.)   After seeing if it was alive, it wasn't; I carefully put it in a freezer bag, expelling as much air as I could, and put it in the freezer.  About a year later, we took him in, and they were very grateful to have such a nice, undamaged specimen.

Thanks for the reminder to take a visit this year!  We also let our membership lapse, which we should remedy.  Good use for the $40. IRS refund we just got back for 2012 taxes.
