    If you're renting an apartment in Los Angeles, you are required to carry renters insurance. And you have to get the policy before you sign your lease. Just another set of hoops to jump through...

      renters insurance. It's another thing to require renters to carry renters insurance to cover the dwelling being rented.

      Renters insurance doesn't cover a dwelling, it covers the renters' property. Period. The diarist stated an example where the renters insurance was required to cover the owner's apartment. Does your lease stipulate that the insurance cover your stuff or the actual apartment you live in?

          post the verbiage from your lease which requires this? I am genuinely curious.

          The wording in the lease is really what's at issue here.
