  •  Some of us like to know things about (0+ / 0-)

the folks who run the site.  This particular action says an awful lot about one of the.

    YMMV.

    •  Pretty sure it was MB. Kos has been conspicuously (0+ / 0-)

absent, and Elfling, while she surely has the technical permissions to do it, I think lacks the authority within the DKos hierarchy to unilaterally take a political step like this. She can ban spambots from China, but she wouldn't ban webranding, even as a temporary step.

I'm also reasonably confident that, had the pending time-out icon been available, it would've been utilized here in place of bojo.

    •  What does it say? (0+ / 0-)

That it wasn't a prudent initial reaction? That whomever did the banning has lost credibility as a result, though the ban was rather quickly rescinded?

You should just come right out with whatever it is you're trying to suggest. After all, sunlight is the best disinfectant, is it not?

        •  All right, now... (0+ / 0-)

Tell me, what would you have done, in light of the nature of the comment as it appeared on the site? What if this HAD been something else, like say, his account was actually hacked?

There was an instance awhile back of a troll who managed to continue posting racist, nazi, anti-semitic bile all over this site for about five hours, due to an autoban glitch/moderation oversight. Everyone was in a fucking uproar about the failure of the site to neutralize this troll in a timely manner.

If this recent incident had been like that, with the user/person in control of the account allowed to post continuously and unchecked, comments that were threatening the president, would that have been an acceptable outcome for Daily Kos, in your view?

The point is, admin has to put the best interest of the site FIRST in a situation of this nature.

Disable the account first, ask questions later, find out the facts, and reinstate the user if justified, as in this case it was.
