    that the financial side of healthcare is so messed up . It's not like the American Hospital Association has been lobbying to reform the system.  The only thing they're worried about is getting paid, whether by the government or the insurance industry.  There's no upside for most hospital execs to fundamentally change the financial model of US healthcare.  Imagine what a difference it would have made if the AHA had thrown its full lobbying weight behind the public option or single payer.
