    With a more sustainable variety.

    Highcountnrygardens.com has some native varieties that need less water and little mowing. Some only get 3 - 4 inches tall, and might only need to be mowed once or twice a summer.

    So if you must have grass, at least you can use a better grass.

      make your place conform to a style, although maybe some people do. (We chose zone "e" for everything and every 15 years or so we have to fight against rezoning but our neighborhood likes it this way so far.)

        nor do I think we all have to be the same, though Kurt Vonnegut has said on more than one occasion that peer pressure is the most powerful force in the universe. (Odd, Einstein thought it was compound interest ... but I digress.)

        Too many simply don't have the courage to stand up, stick out, or be different. I think my point is that even little things matter, if there are enough of them.
