  •  Stood on the shore of Fisherman Bay for (7+ / 0-)

a little while (waiting for Mr O shopping car bits). This bay is next to the village, with two marinas, a lot of traffic (for us) and houses all along on small lots. But there was stuff going on - a family of Canadian geese, 6 goslings a few days old, splashing in the shallow water. Several violet green swallows swooping around a big dock. I've seen nests under there before.

Surprisingly, I saw two deer come down to water and take a drink. It's salt water though. Could the salt be the attraction? Even though this is a fairly densely populated part of the island, the deer come and go a lot, crossing the road, hanging out in back yards.

Dense overcast today until afternoon, sun is out now, but much cooler than yesterday, without that solar gain.

    •  Overcast burnt off around noon (7+ / 0-)

down here in Seattle. Definitely cooler today - on the radio I heard 69 at the University around 3pm.  It may well have been cooler along the lake.

Canada Goose families have gone back into hiding.

Pacific-slope Flycatchers arrived about a week ago in the Forest. Oange-crowned Warblers showed up along the lake about then too.

One unfledged Barred Owlet played peekaboo at the Forest's southern nest hole this afternoon. I was about 30 seconds too late to get a glimpse, but two of the other regular walkers were grinning ear to ear. The Forest's Barred Owls have at least one kid this year.

I came for the politics and stayed for the science.
