    my experience with firearms that this would not be that big a problem with lower caliber rounds like the .22, which by the way, is the preferred weapon of professional assassins. Quiet (relative to a 9mm say), untraceable, and easily destroyed. The plastics would be able to handle the much lower pressure, and the don't have to last long. Also, given that the barrel is plastic, and would ablate with every round fired, ballistics would probably be impossible since the barrel would change after every round.
