    these religious conservatives, are their untapped mental capacity and rarely exercised mental agility, because they seem perfectly fine with throwing out (read: not conserving) the knowledge gained through hundreds of years of progress in almost every human endeavor while they only want to conserve the long outdated, ancient lessons and fables of people whose minds were similarly under utilized.

    Well, that's not being fair of those long dead denizens of the middle east.  They were likely much smarter than these modern creationists.

      It's hard to blame people from thousands of years ago for holding deep misconceptions about how the world works given that while there were SOME individuals and societies at that time who were groping in the right direction at least, it was not widespread common knowledge.

      It's much easier to blame today's modern evangelicals who look hard evidence straight in the face and choose to reject it.
