    This is wonderful:

    Even if I did not ultimately end up in the field, I did follow my dream.  I'm proud of that.
    I am so sorry he died before you could meet him and take his class.

    I am really impressed with your commitment to going so far from home.  It sounds like it was really tough for a while, but you conquered in the end.  Kudos to you!!!  

    I literally have tears in my eyes while smiling, too, from reading this.

    Hubby's dad was from PA and we visited State College each year for 25 years on business trips.  The state is beautiful.  We stopped at Gettysburg several times and visited the tiny town where hubby's relatives came from.

    My great grandfather was from PA, too, the Erie area.  He was in the Union Army from the beginning of the war.  His name is on the big PA monument at Gettysburg.
