  •  There is also the 1/2 wing test for the 787 (6+ / 0-)

    and it broke at 165%.  They tried the full wing set in the stand... they couldn't bring up the tip high enough to get past 155%, as the tip was at the top of the test stand.  One thing about the 787, the control surfaces (aileron, flaps) also flexed and worked with the wing.  

    OBTW, if the wing doesn't flex in turbulence.. where does all that vibration/up/down motion go?... Right into the passengers/cargo.
