  •  "Liberty implies the absence of (6+ / 0-)

arbitrary restraint, not immunity from reasonable regulations and prohibitions imposed in the interests of the community."  West Coast Hotel Co. v. Parrish, 300 U.S. 379, 392 (1937) (quoting Chicago B. & Q. R. Co. v. McGuire, 219 U.S. 549, 567 (1911)).

Moreover, Guns Are Property, Not Liberty.

Guns are nothing but consumer goods, products sold for profit on the open market. We may have mythologized them as being, if anything, symbols of "liberty," and in the process mythologized gun ownership and gun owners, who see themselves as the heroes of their own private mythology. But at bottom, guns are just products; gun rights are property rights. They have nothing to do with "liberty" except in the gun owner's head.
