  •  An astonishing and reprehensible right wing (4+ / 0-)

assault on American working class and poor with its origins in the Tea Party and right wing Republicans who have no comprehension, no understanding of what good government and the common good really mean.  They are a threat to our country - an existential and toxic threat that, if not stopped soon, will cause our downfall (yes, I chose that word carefully).  They are dangerous and careless and cruel ideologues with no sense of what a society should be all about.  Government should serve the people.  Not corporations and the 1% only.  Not the rich.  Government is for the poor, the weak, the old and abused and those who need lots of help - not just for the capable and the over-achievers and the elite.

I fear the US has reached a tipping point in this regard already.  I am older.  I will not see the worst that is coming if the right wing continues its assault on American workers.

    •  I am older as well and agree with everything (0+ / 0-)

you say here, tommy.  Perhaps when all the prisons fill up with desperate folks who do desperate things and growing numbers of parents abandon their children to the foster care system so they can survive, perhaps then the government will take note because that will cost them more: annual cost of incarceration of a single inmate is over 30K and foster care per child is hundreds per month.  Safety net benefits are more cost efficient and keep us from being a nation of only three kinds of people-- the inmates, the jailers, and the morons who think that will make for a strong nation.

Building a better America with activism, cooperation, ingenuity and snacks.
