amazed that George W. Bush was not forced to resign after September 11, 2001.

You want to talk about colossal fuck ups?  That was a real and clear failure of leadership and national security.

...the administration’s reaction to what Mr. Bush was told in the weeks before that infamous briefing reflected significantly more negligence than has been disclosed. In other words, the Aug. 6 document, for all of the controversy it provoked, is not nearly as shocking as the briefs that came before it.
Throughout that summer, there were events that might have exposed the plans, had the government been on high alert.

fact that they knew who 18 of the 19 hijackers were within 48 hours after the attack is really the best evidence that the Administration and their underlings had made serious and critical errors in judgment.

The fact that the 18 that they knew to be of questionable character of the 19 were granted permission to enter the United States at all is outrageous to this day.

And still even in the case of the Boston bombing we see the Republicans complain not that the older brother was allowed back into the country, but that he was allowed to leave.  Would it not have been better had he been denied reentry after he went to Russia?  Why would John McCain and Lindsey Graham want him to be kept in the country?  Assholes.

Let's not forget that the September 11th, 2001 terrorists were allowed to come into the country so that they could be followed and watched by our own agencies.  That was a dangerous and ridiculous decision - especially in light of the fact that they entered and the government quickly lost track of them.

The Republicans assert that they are so great at averting terror plots and that the Obama Administration is inept, but the reality is that the GOP systems are what everyone is working with right now and they aren't really so effective as they would like people to believe.

There is NO Muslim Brotherhood influence in this White House - there is BUSH/CHENEY influence and imprint in this White House and throughout our national security system.  So much so that over 400,000 people are on watch lists and even if they are interviewed the people who are really a threat can't be identified - even when Russia calls and says they're probably a threat - they can't be dealt with appropriately.  That's because the Bush/Cheney people cast the net too wide pretending that by doing that it would cover up the fact that they knew exactly who was going to attack the US in 2001 - 18 people - and not for nothing the 19th would have been useless without the other 18.
