guy kinda freaked out and left the scene, that's not surprising.

My guess, though, is that neither of them has a fully accurate memory of what happened. Parts of Ramsey's account just don't quite make sense -- like, the part where he fumbles with his phone, and sends Amanda across the street to call from there ... I'm not sure quite exactly what was going on there, and maybe C.R. doesn't either. Maybe he was fumbling with his phone, and Amanda took off of her own accord -- she clearly was in no mood to stand around waiting. Maybe he actually sent her across the street just to get her further away from the house. Or further away from his house -- maybe, as a black man with some pretty acute awareness of racial sensitivities, his reflex was to avoid having the pretty white girl in the black man's house when the cops arrived. I can create all sorts of speculative narratives. For that matter, maybe discrepancies in the accounts are partly due to the language barrier -- I haven't seen Cordero's interview, but maybe he said something to Ramsey before leaving the scene (like, "I'll be right back"), but Ramsey didn't know what he was saying.

To put the torture behind us is, inevitably, to put it in front of us.
