    (28%) of suicide in middle aged folks in their fifties in the last few years is just aging and we should what, just expect that?  Suicide has bypassed car accidents as a cause of death, but tht isn't a health care problem.  

    I think suicide is a big problem and firearms are only part of the problem.

      certainly is a big problem, with unclear causes. Suicide by gun is still the most common mechanism, but virtually all other means of suicide have increased more than suicide by gun. This suggests that new efforts to decrease the availability of firearms would be relatively much less important in decreasing deaths than efforts to identify people at risk, and find more effective means of treatment.
