  •  I really must say (6+ / 0-)

that knowing you are essentially my neighbor makes me proud to live in Northern Virginia. Thank you for being a teacher. Really good ones are as precious as perfect spring days.

the rest so far in PG County

doing a sample lesson in DC on Thursday

may be invited to do so in another DC school and an independent school in Springfield

still at least 10 days away from being able to talk to schools in Fairfax

and Loudoun so far has not invited me even for an interview

      so who knows....

      but I will keep trying

in the City of Falls Church?  We place extremely high value on our schools here.

        Cheers.

years ago I was interviewed and seriously considered for a position at the Middle School.  Our vet is Steve Rogers of Falls Church Animal Hospital, who used to be on the city council.  He urged me to apply.  The position they had was both social studies and English.  I had taught both in Maryland at the middle school level, but was not certified in English.  I would have needed I think 3 more courses to get it, and offered to do it with 2 courses during the summer and then one while I was teaching.  The woman seriously considered me but found someone who already had the dual certification and went that way.

I do not have an application on file

what they have at the high school level is one for the new course in personal finance and economics - I have a total of 6 credits in economics, which means I am qualified, but it is not a subject in which I feel that great a comfort level.  They have a long-term sub for Social Studies-History but that is not a permanent position.  That's at the high school.

There are two middle school positions that do not specify the content -  I may call tomorrow to see if either is pure social studies.  While I can teach English, at this point I do not want to have to take more course to get cross-certified.

I just sent off an email seeking clarification on the middle school positions and giving a bit of my background.  We will see what if any interest that evokes.

And I have the greatest respect for Falls Church schools
