  •  I loved the quote--I can't find it (6+ / 0-)

where someone compared the two sides to (I think) presenting food, where one side was a steak and the other was a plate of broken glass. I'm mangling it terribly, I know . . .

      John Cole on bipartisanship:

I really don’t understand how bipartisanship is ever going to work when one of the parties is insane. Imagine trying to negotiate an agreement on dinner plans with your date, and you suggest Italian and she states her preference would be a meal of tire rims and anthrax.

News aggregation is easy, the problem comes from the disconnect between the actual feet on the ground reporting including longitudinal stories and that which becomes available for mass consumption.

Reliance on the regurgitation of press releases, transcripts and corporate generated infotainment has undermined our ability to be informed (responsible) citizens.  The excuse of not having enough time to sift through what is available rings hollow when what is out there is garbage.

Though the atmosphere might be too poisoned anymore to float this, there is merit in the idea of government funded news media.

I see a very beautiful planet that seems very inviting and peaceful. Unfortunately, it is not.…We're better than this. We must do better. Cmdr Scott Kelley
