    take it so as to improve his chances for reelection while knowing the legislature would block it?  We'll see if the $$ GOP manages a way to get around the fringe GOP they gerrymandered into office.

      That is possible. The issue is that whether it would improve or decrease his chances at reelection is hard to calculate.

      Right now, the Ohio GOP is in full-on destruction mode, blowing up like that fertilizer factory in West, Texas. Almost every major figure in the Ohio GOP is feuding with some other major figure in the Ohio GOP. The Tea Party is pissed at everyone and is meeting to decide if they want to form a third party or work to primary the far right Republicans currently in office because they are not ideologically pure enough to suit them. Even the rightwing Columbus Dispatch has conceded the problem and written a "Republicans in disarray" story.

      Unfortunately for Kasich, the people most likely to support the expansion of Medicare are more likely to support the unequivocality of Democrat Ed FitzGerald, especially knowing that his party backs him totally on the issue. They're not likely to swing to Kasich on this one issue.
