don't seem to be celebrating too much -- OPD is as fucked up as ever with or without Jordan.

But the man is a stone liar and proud of it, too. He seemed to get off on insults and lies, no matter who he was speaking to.

The outrage he provoked just seemed to feed his psychotic nature. To say he gave cops a bad name is to be far too kind.

I didn't know, however, that he was in charge of the unprovoked attack on protesters at the Port in 2003 -- an attack that should have shocked the conscience of Americans everywhere.

Live and learn. At least that attack gives some frame-of-mind context to what happened to Oakland demonstrators in October of 2011 and January of 2012 -- not to forget all the other instances of police abuse, brutality and murder endemic to his reign.

I'm not sorry to see Jordan go, but reform of the OPD has been both necessary and delayed for way, way too long, despite all the federal court orders and oversight and all the monitors and consultants and reports and inspectors and rotating chiefs and protests and murders.

When will it get better? What will it take?
