expecting the majority in a House of Congress to investigate their own failures, there was a time that investigative journalists would have been all over Benghazi and the events leading up to it.

And they would have shown the truth - that for over a year prior to the attack, the Republican Party was undermining the security of Embassies across the globe, and had decided to blame the President when the fruits of their own policies came home to roost.

That time - the age of investigative journalism - is long-gone. Now, the GOP can pass its talking points direct to the various "news" anchors and talking heads, safe in the knowledge that the vast majority of the Fourth Estate will simply repeat their points verbatim, with perhaps half as much time given to the Democratic Party's views.

On behalf of Australia, I apologise for this. I apologise that our country ever birthed a sick, rabid monster like Rupert Murdoch, I'm sorry that we let him keep his inheritance from his father (the Melbourne Herald, if I recall) and I'm particularly sorry that we ever let him leave Australia to inflict his ideology on the rest of the world.
