    but was so excited when I saw the news and waited for someone from Minnesota to post a diary but no one did, so I did it!

    It's great news!

    In Arizona, we actually passed a marriage equality bill in 2006, so it was placed back on the ballot in 2008 and overturned.

    Hopefully Arizona will try again but my state isn't exactly known for progress.

    All we need is LOVE!

      "scorched earth" anti-equality bill that would have banned not only marriage but civil unions and even minimal domestic partner recognition. It lost largely because it would have negatively impacted elderly widows/widowers who formed relationships and wanted some recognition but couldn't marry for fear of losing pension and SS survivor benefits.

      Sometimes truth is spoken from privilege and falsehood is spoken to power. Good intentions aren't enough.
