  •  And that compared to 52% in the other 49 states (9+ / 0-)

Only 3/4 what happens everywhere else.

Registration is not that far off the average, but nobody is getting OTV.

    •  Statewide organization has been poor in the past. (7+ / 0-)

There's no way around that. We have not had a strong statewide, continuing Democratic effort for years.  Everything has depended on statewide candidates to put together their own GOTV, registration, etc.

Yes, there is a state organization, but older efforts have been disjointed and underfunded.

I'm excited about this diary because it sounds like real efforts are going to be made that may make a difference. We really need to work on this everywhere -- including running candidates everywhere, even in so-called strong red areas.

These republicans are so crazy, so far out in left field, that a solid Democratic campaign and good GOTV could knock them off.  They've been winning because no one is voting - low turn-out - and many have run unopposed.

I've been working the last weeks to get a good candidate elected for city council (Voting is May 11-Saturday).  If he wins there, maybe he'll be good for a state legislature run in a few years.

Working at the local level can be quite effective, but we need all the local efforts tied together at the statewide level too. I hope this diary is news that that is truly happening.
