    I miss the days when this place actually took itself seriously.

      Yes the textbook definition of treason is as you say. However, for whatever purposes they may have had, the founders gave us a definition right in the Constitution and the Constitution last time I checked supersedes any dictionary.

      To whit;

      Article 3 Section 3 says

      Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

      The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

      The diarist also mentioned this definition in the body of his post.

      I agree it's too narrow a definition but levying a charge of (I suppose this is what you were doing) levity in the face of serious matters as opposed to "when this place took itself seriously" is not warranted as your charge is in fact incorrect.

      As they say, better to keep one's mouth shut and appear a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

        You people have lost your fucking minds. I would love for you to give me an example of a treasonous act committed by any politician in the last ten years. I'll wait.
