  •  what aisle? they are on the same side (9+ / 0-)

the corporate coup d'etat is in full swing

do you remember when we had Public Radio and Public TV? these days nature is funded by the Koch brothers and increasingly the corporations pay for PBS

heck, I even remember last year when it was The Ohio State Medical Center, now it is the Wexner Medical center which shows that billionaires are more important than the public

do you remember when we had public parks before they were fracked to death?

do you remember when Daniel Ellsberg risked life in prison to publish documents about the Vietnam war lies from the government?

Are all telephone calls recorded and accessible to the US government?
A former FBI counterterrorism agent claims on CNN that this is the case

my junior high grandson ran into problems with an inappropriate posting on face book. He was wrong. In the meetings with the school, the assistant principal said that he should assume that everything electronic is being monitored

this is a 13 year old kid

already he is being told that big brother spies on everything that goes on

    the constitution is so quaint

    •  the constituion is quaint (0+ / 0-)

this is the year 2013, not 1789.  we have had 224 years of scientific, technological, cultural and political world.  why should our country be ruled by a document 224 years old?  there is no reason and that is why we have a congress, so we can update the legal system as our world changes.

i spent 10 years developing software and information systems to modernize business processes.  and, along the way, many people had similar complaints such as yours, constantly fearing change.

but change is inevitable, it is implacable, the show must and will go on.

and by the way, on my way to drop off my daughter at school, I listened to NPR, came home and watched PBS on the internet while I ate breakfast.  Today I am going to a public park near where I live to have a picnic lunch with my wife, who has her day off from working in a public hospital.

this good things in life are still there, even though there are a lot of crappy things.  but crappy things will always be with us.

      •  I'm not surprised you agree with Gonzo. (6+ / 0-)

The Constitution needs updating to be sure, but that wouldn't be the obliteration of the Bill of Rights.

This administration has blurred the distinction between the two parties in so many ways it's tragic.

All this happened, more or less. The war parts, anyway, are pretty much true. - Kurt Vonnegut
It's a very frightening time when something as basic as due process is seen as somehow radical. - John Cusack
