    I certainly didn't intend to come off as blaming the victim in my previous comments, and I apologize if I did.  I realize that there are situations, probably most rape situations, where people are completely helpless.

    I am not suggesting that, if only rape victims had done something differently, they wouldn't have been raped.  I am also not suggesting that a victim, even one with self defense skills, can count on overpowering a predator, especially not an armed one.

    I was only suggesting that it is beneficial if people are educated in how to avoid situations where they are in danger, and (where possible) learn some self-defense skills. I was also suggesting that in the military, there should be a means of reporting rape and abuse that does not jeopardize one's career.

    I'm not sure how this equates to wanting to keep things as they are.
