intelligent friend who was a high level SOCOM operative who is quite rational other then his politics which are close to teabagger- has his degrees from of all places LIberty University (because they give it free to former military people and it was close to home, and it allowed him distance learning for 3 of the 4 years). I enjoy debating with him on most subjects, but he's completely unhinged on this one. He believes number 2 and I don't know of a way to disabuse him of this fantasy.

that there's just no factual basis for the claim. it's raw speculation. there's not a single source that can be traced back to the suggestion that they watched it on TV or that a stand-down order came direct from Hillary or Obama. That's what you need to confront your friend about: EVIDENCE!

Why was security lax in the months leading up the Benghazi where there were requests? GOod question, let's investigate that and figure it out -- regardless, HIllary took responsibility for it.

Why did the military give a stand-down order not to rescue the guys in Benghazi? Was there no time? Was it a call made by Africom that had to weigh the risk of turmoil in Tripoli?

These are the two fair questions for what would normally have been just a basic military SNAFU story (ill give an example: the Black Hawk Somali incident -- this was a military op, and Clinton couldn't have been held responsible.  Benghazi seems to me to be on that level)
