  •  Bill, I couldn't agree with all your points more.. (11+ / 0-)

however, what do we do when attempts to organize are squashed by a para military police, such as OWS?  Or another example, Timothy Dolan of NY, had the police threaten away protestors (gay) outside his cathedral?

Even if we get the protests going, get organized, the plutocracy is ready to beat us with billy clubs.  Our very right to protest is effectively being taken away from us.

I also suspect that you are talking about organizing such as Howard Dean's group?

But it is not so simple.  I, for one, would be hugely appreciative, if you would write in the future about some organizing efforts that you thought were worthwhile.  (if you have already done so and I have missed that, mea culpa.)

Thanks.  Obviously we have to organize.  But how?

    •  Great diary, Mr. Moyers, but SeaTurtle is (4+ / 0-)

correct: too many policemen have forgotten that we are a nation of laws. They have attacked, and even murdered protesters with impunity...our Justice Department is corrupt...and what happened to the OCW movement should have been a wake up call for all Americans.

And most people are smart enough to realize that these "thugs" were nothing more than violent enforcers hired to protect the interests of the wealthy.

And they got away with it...the WH even assisted them...

"In a sense, so much anger and so much disillusionment are understandable..."
Yes, we are angry, and yes we are disillusioned...but how can we fight back? How can we unseat a government that has been corrupted to the core, a government that no longer makes an effort to listen to its constituents?

Each election, we struggle to elect effective leaders, but we can't gain enough seats in Congress to counter the corporate money that is being thrown at the politicians....

We desperately need leaders who can't be corrupted, and personally, I don't know where to find them.
