ability of right-wing lunatics to inflame a certain portion of the Republican base by such non-reality based polemics, I do take some solace in the hysteria we're seeing on this issue.  The more hysterical Republicans get in trying to influence the national dialogue, the more I believe that Americans are, slowly but surely, coming to see reality as it is...

The right is terrified, because they see it, too...  we're seeing gradual movement toward reality on many fronts, in spite of the continuing competence of the right in its efforts to obfuscate and distract attention from what are the real fundamental political issues of the time.  As I commented responding to another diary yesterday:

A few Repubs have got the bit in their mouth, US media is obediently responding, and this is going to get nasty before it gets better.

This brouhaha is nothing more than Repubs throwing ANYTHING against the wall that might stick to try to re-gain influence after the 11/12 election embarrassment.

It's distracting the national dialogue from the Newtown/guns issue, the wealth/income discrepancy issue, the refusal of corporations to invest in employment of American workers at home, the ongoing Wall Street-caused recession, and 40% of Americans existing below the poverty line -- what Congress SHOULD BE talking about.

    Also:
This as an attempt of Republicans to regain National Security dominance.  Repubs' main strength is "national security."  Obama has taken that from them.  Absent that, they've nothing to trumpet.

This is exactly what's going on here.  Expect the right to milk this mis-information cow for all its worth.  Expect the media to obdiently fall in line.

    What hypocritical BS.

That said, I am far from resting easy on this.  So we have another pundit with "Rush" in his name to defeat.  So we have to keep up the posting of reality-based information.  Crazies will be crazies.  We must keep pointing that out to the universe.

Americans who vote against their own interests are driven by "the human need to find a strand of significance that will hold everything together that isn't on TV..." (quote is from P. Roth in "Sabbath's Theater")
