    but I think was more striking is that the news, both print and TV, didn't hesitate to show the horrors of the war.  From the self-immolation of Buddhist monk Thich Quang Duc in 1963 to the photo of the summary execution of Captain Nguyen Ven Lem by General Nguyen Ngoc Loan during the Tet Offensive to the photo of 9 year old Phan Thi Kim Phuc running down the road naked after her clothes caught fire when her village was napalmed in 1972.  Those images appeared on the front pages of many papers and helped galvanize opposition to the war.
