    When George Allen pointed out the (non-white) person taking a video of his Senate campaign stop, he said, "Welcome to America, and the Real World of Virginia." The obvious assumption was that any person who looked "different" obviously must be an immigrant, and certainly not from a great Southern state like Virginia.

    Sarah Palin used the same framing with her talking about "Real America" -- obviously those of us in NYC and SF and LA and all the blue states aren't "real Americans".

    The nation's motto is "out of many, one"...the Republicans' motto is, "Every man for himself", or maybe, "I got mine, the hell with you."

      What I find amusing is that I remember a time when the most beloved and well-known "Real American" in the world was none other than Muhammad Ali :)
