    reaction of the Dem and the Repub Parties' bases.

    Their mindsets are totally different.

    Having lived in the South at one time, I understand that the conservative Christian community views the indiscretions of 'one of their own,' in a totally different light.

    Many secular folks don't understand the mindset.  It is not unusual for a conservative Christian to enthusiastically embrace 'the fallen among them.'

    To their minds, these folks can serve as 'better witnesses to their faith.'

    And this also fits the conservative Christian meme that 'no matter how big a fall that you take--there is always the possibility of redemption.'

    Some of the most sought-after conservative evangelists are the ones that literally come from 'skid row' backgrounds, for just this reason.  ;-)
