    Does anyone know how many of those guns are really "active?" Say, as opposed to antiques or guns that otherwise are, for all intents and purposes, rarely if ever fired?

    I'm a little curious about that, especially since my motivation for compiling these lists grew largely out of the proposal to put more and more loaded guns into everyday circulation in close proximity to children—i.e., putting them in schools.

    I just wanted people to start getting a sense of how often people do things that are completely unexpected or truly stupid, before anyone rushed into any plans to put hundreds of thousands more loaded weapons in the hands of hundreds of thousands more people who would be walking up and down between the desks of millions more elementary, middle and high school students, hour after hour, day after day, year after year.
