As an architect I would love to see tables draped with fine brocades, crowded with period science experiments, astrolabes, telescopes, prisms, models of ships and infernal devices of every sort, maybe a few suits of armor, lots of carved furniture, satin couches with pillows, harpsichords and stringed instruments, maybe a crowd of people in period dress, fancy wigs, parasols, and a few muddy barbarians in wet furs anxious to tell of new discoveries with their instruments of navigation and charts.

Demonstrations inside the incredibly rare Riding House (see below) have returned.

The 'Caesar' paintings (originally commissioned for the place) have returned to the Little Castle, and I understand that other developments are in prospect.

In the end, I suppose that it all comes down to money -  or lack, thereof. The British economy has been savaged by austerity measures, and English Heritage has to 'make do and mend' as has every other Non-Departmental Public Body - in their case governed by the National Heritage Act (1983).

No, it is NOT Warwick Castle (although I would rather that someone OTHER than 'Madam Tussaud's' were in charge of that august pile), but it has the potential to be a significant venue. It doesn't help that it is located in an unfashionable county, in the middle of an area that was punished by the authorities in London for its strongly held political views.

As an aside, it is possible that there are echoes of 17th century Dutch architecture (particularly of the canal houses of Amsterdam) in the Riding House.

Do not adjust your mind, there is a flaw in reality.
