  •  Thank you for the beautiful bouquet, (7+ / 0-)

AZ Sphinx Moth. You predicted the octillo bloom -- seems like just a few days ago -- so I'm especially glad to see that. Those are some nasty looking thorns, though! Takes me back to some happy days in the south Texas desert, from Big Bend to the Laguna Atascosa Wildlife Refuge behind South Padre Island. Much appreciate the reminder of desert joy.

Here in Cotter, Ark., today is was 77, rather than the predicted high of 67. Pink primroses are in bloom on the bluff, and a tall wildflower has popped up in the rock garden, but only a bud so far. We shall see.

I am profoundly grateful I got out of the remote holler nearby before my car went kaput!

would be a cheerful sight. I love mysterious plants popping up in the yard. I have a couple in the rock garden myself. I hope one is the hooker evening primrose. The mother plant died over the winter. Let me know if anything exciting develops with yours.

It sounds like you are safe and sound even though your car isn't. I used to go for adventures alone in remote areas before cell phones. Although they can be life savers, there are still many places where they are useless. In the past, I would just have faith that nothing unexpected would happen and if it did I would find away to recover. Take care.

    •  Saw a real pretty bird refuge (5+ / 0-)

just NW of South Padre island, on the mainland, even if it was a drought year. Lots of unusual birds, had an alligator too.  I'm not sure it was Laguna Atascosa.

Since it's Texas, the dove hunting season had just opened on part of the Refuge, limiting trail walking activity.

Orly, it isn't evidence just because you downloaded it from the internet.
