    Having read Krugman's introduction makes me want to reread it for probably the tenth time.

    Next to the Mule, my favorite Asimov characters are without question R. Daneel Olivaw and R. Reventlov Giskard.  Two utter badasses who never use the slightest violence against humans, yet control the destiny of human civilization.  How cool is that?

      I've always felt that Olivaw and Giskard were rather tragic figures; Giskard especially. Both are essentially human (Olivaw because of his human appearance; Giskard despite his lack of apparent humanity)--and like any human they come to realize that they may have royally screwed up.
