single billionaire on earth fighting to make the US a progressive society, while scores of them are fighting in earnest to destroy democracy as you say.

We've just recently gotten the 1st billionaire ever willing to fight in earnest on one particular progressive policy, climate change.

It's never all over, legally at least; any law can be repealed even Constitutional amendments and articles.

We've never had a revolution north of Mexico, only 2 secessions. We've never had to largely replace our own sitting government in its most general and sweeping policies. Nobody has any experience with that here.

doesn't make him any less of a rule-buying (third term) elitist who wants to loot the poor to benefit the rich.

There isn't a snowball's chance in hell of revolution here until conditions resemble something approaching Greece. And then, all that "fatherland security" investment will make quick work of any opposition, not to mention putting a stake in the heart of any future democracy.

While these rich assholes piss away our money, the planet is burning and, as you say, only one of them seems to care. Meanwhile, Gates, Broad, and the Waltons can't ruin our educational system fast enough.

America is over; and Obama is the one who put the pillow over its face. Bush put it in the hospital, but Obama let it die. The Pritzger, White, and FCC nominations are Obama showing everyone who he really is: a dyed in the wool corporatist.

      It is over.
