  •  I imagine we'll do something about global warming, (5+ / 0-)

but too late to avoid catastrophic change.

I just hope we get serious about mitigations strategies -- where to move New Yorkers, where to grow food, etc,  so that generations of our children and their children can survive while we wait for the CO2 to slowly dissipate.

    •  CO2 doesn't "dissipate" (0+ / 0-)

It just "is." It is what it is - at a molecular level.

No disrespect intended. It's a quite stable molecule. Photosynthesis has kept the balance and in our infinite wisdom we're shaking the Jenga table just to see what happens.

Because we're inherently: Stupid? Greedy? -------

      Fill in the blank.

The road to perdition is paved and ready for traffic.

Suspend disbelief. It's gonna get confusing as hell soon enough.

      •  Sure it does. It doesn't magically disappear, of (4+ / 0-)

course, but it dissolves into the ocean, it reacts to form limestone, and disappears in a number of other ways I can't begin to understand.

The problem is that it doesn't do it very quickly.  if we were to stop putting any CO2 whatsoever into the air, the atmosphere 100 years from now would still have more CO2 than we'd like.

And we're not about to stop throwing CO2 into the air.

        •  I'm gonna miss coral reefs (0+ / 0-)

Scientists across the globe are screaming and running in circles as if their hair was on fire but they're screaming at an empty venue.

Apparently - There's no profit in reality.
