  •  Probably (10+ / 0-)

I think it kills most bugs.

Mix it with a few drops of dish soap, and spray them when it's sunny. The soap reduces the water tension so it gets right into their skin, and if it's sunny they just dehydrate.

If you have fruit flies in the house, a little wine or vinegar in a shallow dish with a couple drops of dish soap will trap them. The surface tension of the water is reduced by the soap, and they sink and drown.

After a couple of days, no more fruit flies.

I use that every year when it starts to get warm.

    •  That works for fleas, too, if the water is warm (1+ / 0-)

A shallow bowl of water, with dish soap & vinegar (borax works, too), on the floor, with a reading lamp shining on it it to keep it warm - wait a couple of hours and you'll find fleas drowned in it.  Just gotta keep the dog from drinking it.
