It is somewhat expensive $10/pound but will kill whole colony.  A little goes a long way.  Pet and people safe.

It sticks to ants and they take it into colony.  Diatomaceous earth is fossilized diatoms, they are very small and very sharp.  They way it kills ants is that it cuts them up, they can't move it, can't eat it, so it makes little cuts that kill all adults and larva.

What I like about the cinnamon is that it's cheap. I had bought a huge container at (now don't blast me) Sam's last year. So, when I heard about it getting rid of ants, I was thrilled. Also, like lexalou, I have two feline roommates. Apparently, they don't like it either, as they stay away also.

any number of insects. However, some caution should be used when applying it. Namely, steps should be taken to avoid inhaling it. There are two types of DE - Pool grade and food grade. Food grade is less hazardous than pool grade, albeit more expensive.
