  •  Holder should resign. (0+ / 0-)

Whether or not he signed off on it, it's time to fall on the sword  or this will turn the press against Obama in ways he will regret.

Press takes this kind of shit personally.

    •  Why? (0+ / 0-)

Did the DOJ violate the law with their subpoena of records from the telephone company?

      •  Possibly, yes. (0+ / 0-)

But that's not the reason I suggest Mr. Holder take his leave.

It's just the latest example of the wrong approach to a problem that doesn't need fixing while nothing is done for problems that do.

Instead of pushing the limits of executive branch powers chasing whistle blowers and journalists, how about more action against financial criminals?

Now this crap just ads fuel to the fire for the MSM and Republican witch hunts.

        Enjoying the entertainment?

        •  I thought this was about national security (0+ / 0-)

I haven't seen any indication that the investigation was related to whistle blowers.  Additionally, if the subpoena was issued by a grand jury and signed off on by a judge, it seems unlikely that it was a violation of the law.  Obviously if the terms of the subpoena weren't adhered to then, yeah, that would violate the law.

Anyway, I just think it's wise to learn more about the investigation and the activities of the DOJ related to this case before we get out our pitchforks.

          •  I agree. (0+ / 0-)

            Get the facts.

What I suggested is that Holder, himself, consider resigning.

And that the Obama administration show as much enthusiasm for investigating financial crimes that threaten security as they do chasing down journalists reporting on cases of disclosures that cause the administration embarrassment.

However, I doubt either will happen because Holder has made his statement that he recused himself and has full confidence his staff, etc., and if the administration was actually interested in holding bankers responsible for their misdeeds it would have happened already.

But then, when it comes to stuff like war crimes, it's clear that to protect national security we have to "move on" and forget the past, but if some low level bureaucrat leaks information about a drone attack, a full investigation is warranted.

And, probably, no laws were technically violated by anyone on Wall Street so why waste the time of Justice to investigate?

Anyway, here are a couple of entertaining Bill Moyer videos touching on the subject of imperial presidency and how powers granted are seldom relinquished, and how this stuff tends to get handed-over from administration to administration regardless of party because, if you don't exercise the legal remedies you lose them.

            Part 1

            Part 2

Had the Dems exercised impeachment for good reasons 5 years ago, we probably wouldn't be hearing Republicans screaming about it for the wrong reasons now, and the Obama Administration might actually be as open and accountable as he promised.

            Didn't happen. Humor me.
