I get the feeling that the McConnells and the Issas KNOW that, next to some of the things that happened between 2001 and Inauguration Day 2009 (and let's not forget Nixon using the FBI and the IRS on people on his enemies list), the stuff they have on their BENGHAZI platter isn't really scandal material and they just don't care.

Or, maybe it's that they realize they have no plan for fixing the government so they want us to concentrate on the shiny objects over there to mask that.

    •  Republicans HAVE to gin up scandals (7+ / 0-)

Otherwise their "both parties do it" cop out falls flat on its face and they are exposed as the ethically-bankrupt-to-the-core party that they are.

The framing of Hunter's piece is pitch-perfect, I hope other opinion writers will follow his lead.

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
No wonder these scandals have difficulty gaining traction for the Republicans--the more they yell and scream the more they sound like little children having a temper tantrum in need of a time-out. Now there are serious questions raised by these scandals, but with all the idiotic sound and fury going on it's hard for anyone to take these screamers seriously.

But if the cause be not good, the king himself hath a heavy reckoning to make, ... there are few die well that die in a battle; ... Now, if these men do not die well, it will be a black matter for the king that led them to it; — Shakespeare, ‘Henry V’

      They know it's BS.
It's all a game to these sh*ts.  No matter people's lives, their constituents lives, are being ruined by the gamers obstruction to anything that could make life better for Americans (therefore to/for America as well)
Rile up the un-informed, under-informed, mis-informed, willfully ignorant and/or the stupid to vote against their own interests by dazzling them with nonsensical crap.
There's a sucker born every minute and these charlatans know it and play it to the hilt with their faux dramas.

I think, therefore I am........................... Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose....AKA Engine Nighthawk - don't even ask!
