    on TV, you will know that the police routinely get subpoenas to get people's call history. In a murder case one of the first things they do is to call the phone company to get what the cops call 'lugs' on the victim's phone. These requests are routinely granted as long as a judge will sign off on it.

    Considering the extent to which corporations are practically capturing our every keystroke on the internet, this is no grand violation of the first amendment.
