  •  I sympathize thoroughly. (12+ / 0-)

I do still use FB on occasion, because some folks I know do post useful updates. But probably only about once/week.

Mostly I mistrust it as you do, for the datamining that goes on, but I also dislike it because it always makes me feel like everyone else on it has a far more interesting life than I do! (Plus it has always pissed me off to see people active there when I've been trying to get in contact with them unsuccessfully. I do my best not to take it personally but don't always succeed.)

That said, I do post OTHER people's DKos diaries on FB if I'm hoping the info will go viral.

I have a Twitter account that I haven't used in several years. The name is now obsolete so I'd have to get a different handle if I were motivated to take a whirl again.

Some DKos series & groups worth your while: Black Kos, Native American Netroots, KosAbility, Monday Night Cancer Club. If you'd like to join the Motor City Kossacks, send me a Kosmail.

    •  I tried to have several twitter and facebook names (5+ / 0-)

just to be able to post some diaries and tweets, but I forget always my names and PWD and the whole thing is just not worth it.

I use google for "research"  a lot, but the rest, no...

Plus it has always pissed me off to see people active there when I've been trying to get in contact with them unsuccessfully.
And it pisses me off, if some family members never, ever give out their tel. no. nor email, no real address, but send you formless "invites" or "I want to be your friend requests",  while you had seen these guys in their pampers and wiped their little pooh away once a long time ago.

Well, I just want to see these little nerds cry when they have been forcefully cut off from their "social network". It will be a holy, dirty, sickly mess.
