don't get overtime in the first place.  At least, it's not legally required.

What are you doing to fight the dangerous and counterproductive error of treating dirtbag terrorist criminals as though they were comic book supervillains? I can't believe we still have to argue this shit, let alone on Daily Kos.

    •  Sometimes part timers work overtime (5+ / 0-)

It's just not consistent, or usual. Say you are routniely scheduled for 20 hours a week, but the employer has a big deadline/crisis/staff shortage. For a couple of weeks you actually end up working 45 hours each week. You are entitled to overtime for the 5 hours. And when you go back to the usual 20, just  when are you going to take that 10 hours of optional comp time?

    •  They do in any week they work more than 40 hrs (0+ / 0-)

It does happen, sometimes. If you're a 35 hr/wk person and there's a big project, you can be asked to work extra hours. If you work 41 that week, that 1 extra hour is paid at time & a half.  Been there, done that.
