  •  I have an old equatorial mount that you can sit (8+ / 0-)

    and look at the object and turn the knob manually to keep it in the field of view. The setup takes a while, because you have to aim the mount at the north star and then adjust the manual settings to find the stars/planets. I have to use three eyepieces just to set up a planet in the field of view. But there is nothing like looking at jupiter through a good refractor. I have a TeleVue 6" and it is amazing the detail you can tease out after your eye has adjusted. Oh man, I am getting nostalgic. I guess I better do some viewing soon.
