    People who grew up in churches without proper music programs don't get how very seriously every note that's played, every chant setting that's chosen, and every voluntary played on the organ is taken by people who not only love their tradition, but have a certain amount of pride in keeping it. Essentially, I give a concert every week. I work up, for myself, music at the same level I would give in a public concert. Because it IS a public concert. These Evensongs though are really a concert under the guise of a religious service. They're really for the community. No preaching. Mostly choral music with prayers and readings according to the outline in the Prayerbook.

    My reputation is made by these several community events throughout the year. The audience helps even if they are counting mistakes.
