  •  I've got to say it (9+ / 0-)

or it'll bother me all day.

As long as there is one "scientist" in the world who does not vociferously proclaim that climate change is caused by the direct action of human activity the deniers will shout from the rooftops that it's not proven.
And yes they will consider Rand Paul to be a scientist, by the end of it all they'll be hunting down first year pre-med students for quotes in exchange for directions to financial aid.

There, I said it. I feel better.
Now I can go back to work.

to get PhDs solely for the purpose of using that platform to deny the science they've purported to learn. That minority may never go away, certainly not in my lifetime.

    •  Ah, yes. (0+ / 0-)

THAT  'scientist'.  He is really being kept busy, having to refute all the assertions of the 97% who persist in churning out their junk science- global warming- fright mongering, instead of doing real science.  The kind of real science that I can easily understand.  And even if I don't know the 'how' of vinegar sprays erasing jet contrails, I do have it on real good authority that it is a FACT that the sprays do do just that!

    •  Ah, and "one" of them would be Dr. Roy Spencer (1+ / 0-)

But even he, a member of the Cornwall Alliance, usually comes around to invite people to prove the absence of the greenhouse effect at their peril. Thing about Spencer is he doesn't outright reject AGW, just that he busies himself mulling the prospect that it could be between 10% or 90% caused by man, and that his obsession with the role of natural cycles makes it all the more incredulous given the evidence to the contrary. Oh well, even a broken clock...

Then there are skeptics like Judith Curry, but who seem to inevitably get caught moving goalposts in admitting that there's at least some partial influence of humanity on the climate.

It's a losing battle to be a climate "skeptic." It takes a monumental explanation contrary to basic physics to be one.
