  •  what it would mostly upend is the mechanism (6+ / 0-)

by which economic decisions are made.

"modern life as we know it" -- putting disposable plastic toys in junk food non-meals to attract children, shipping ordinary water all over the country in bottles, even to places where the tap water is far better than what comes in the bottles, 30 vehicles bringing 60 people 10 miles to play and watch a single soccer match played between 8-year-olds, and blah de blah de blah, pumping aquifer water all over the desert to grow bluegrass in arizona -- isn't a way of life, it's a fad. it would take about half a generation -- 10 years -- to reaccustom americans to living sane lives, in which it was presumed that a family would own one really good camera, and use that camera for 2 or 3 decades, rather than replacing it with the "latest" technology every 2 years or so; and that most adults had more useful things to do with their time than watch 8-year-olds play soccer; and that technological goods would be worth repairing rather than discarding.

of course, that cannot happen until, among other things, we destroy the globalist system that permits someone to have products manufactured by slaves, for sale in markets where the consumers are not slaves.

To put the torture behind us is, inevitably, to put it in front of us.

and the diagnosis. Not quite sure we're in the same place re treatment/remedy. But I like your suggestion that it really wouldn't take that long for a meaningful readjustment in behaviors.
